8 REGINA COURT

CATEGORY: RENOVATION

This dwelling is part of a two home property development that emphasises engagement with the immediate and broader community. The design emphasises a strong connection to the adjacent park and street to create safer and more vibrant community urban spaces. The verge has been utilised to realise this goal by the use of edible planting as well as an inviting social space.

The renovation uses solar passive design principles and has used extensive recycled materials from the demolished parts of the building.

The home is completely electric and employs battery storage and a large solar array supplying more energy to the home than is required for the homes usage.

Universal design principles and adaptability of use are key features of the design making this an intergenerational infill project. As well as this, the retention and integration of some key features of the existing building give clues to the cultural history of the original dwelling and the local neighbourhood.
